How do alcohol, accessibility and food change the count?

Alcohol, accessibility and food each change the porta potty count by a whole number. Add 1 unit for every 5 on the chart when alcohol is served, with at least 1. Make at least 1 unit, or 5% of each cluster, wheelchair-accessible. Add 1 hand wash station for every 4 units when food is served.

Worked example: 150-guest wedding, 5 hours, bar and dinner

  1. Chart: 150 guests, 5–6 hours = 3 units.
  2. Alcohol: 3 ÷ 5 rounds up to 1 → add 1 = 4 units.
  3. Accessible: 5% of 4 rounds up to 1 → make 1 of the 4 wheelchair-accessible.
  4. Food: 4 ÷ 4 = 1 hand wash station.

Order: 3 standard or deluxe units, 1 wheelchair-accessible unit and 1 hand wash station. Accessible-unit rule: 2010 ADA Standards §213.2. Confirm event rules with your venue or permit office.

How many porta potties does a construction crew need?

A construction crew needs at least 1 toilet for up to 20 workers under OSHA's Table D-1, and 1 seat plus 1 urinal per 40 workers above that. For a 40-hour week with one weekly service, we recommend 1 unit for every 10 workers, so a 25-person crew gets 3 units.

Questions people ask before they bookStraight answers, before you call.

100 guests need 2 standard units for a 3–4 hour event and 3 units for 7–8 hours. Add 1 if alcohol is served.

How many porta potties for 200 guests?

200 guests need 3 units for a 3–6 hour event and 4 units for 7–8 hours, before the alcohol adjustment.

How many porta potties for a graduation party?

A graduation party with 150 guests over 5 hours needs 3 standard units. Open houses with guests coming and going can use the 3–4 hour column.

The manufacturer rates a standard tank at about 200 uses before service. That is roughly 50 guests at a 4-hour event or 10 workers for a 40-hour week.

Do women need more porta potties?

Events with mostly women guests use units faster because urinals go unused. Add 1 unit for every 5 on the chart, the same step as for alcohol.
